For Arts' Sake…
The Park Rapids Lakes Area Arts Council (PRLAAC) was organized in 2005 "to promote excellence in the arts through creation, education and performance."
PRLAAC serves as an umbrella organization for seventeen arts and cultural organizations in the greater Park Rapids area. Representatives from these arts groups, along with individual arts project champions, meet monthly to coordinate arts calendars, share information and incubate interest in new arts projects.
In 2011, PRLAAC partnered with the City of Park Rapids in earning the Region 2 Arts Council's "Arts Community Designation."
The Arts Mean Business
Nonprofit arts and culture organizations contribute to the vibrancy of Minnesota’s economy and quality of life and make our state a magnet for jobs and businesses. Now we can quantify that, in addition to providing life changing experiences, educational opportunities and accessibility to audiences of all ages in their stages and museums, arts and culture organizations are important employers and economic engines. The 1,269 participating organizations represented in the Creative Minnesota Report contribute $1.2 BILLION to our state’s economy each year.
